The toxicity of the seeds is due to diterpene alkaloids (delcosine, delso- line, consolidine). Delsonine and an- thranoyllycoctonine are amorphous alkaloids.The alkaloids lead to bradycardia, lowering of blood pressure, and cardiac arrest.
