Granuloma Inguinale: From 3 Different Sources


A sexually transmitted infection that causes ulceration of the genitals. The infection is caused by CALYMMATOBACTERIUM GRANULOMATIS, also known as Donovan’s bodies. Granuloma inguinale is common in parts of the tropics but is rare in developed countries. The antibiotics tetracycline or erythromycin are effective treatments.

Umbilical Granuloma

an overgrowth of tissue during the healing process of the umbilicus (belly button). It is a moist fleshy red lump of tissue seen in some babies in the first few weeks of life after the umbilical cord remnant has dried and fallen off.
