Needs Health Dictionary

Needs: From 1 Different Sources

This term has both a precise and an all but indefinable meaning in the context of public health. Needs are spoken of in precise numerical terms when referring to specific indicators of disease or premature death that require intervention because their level is above that generally accepted in the society or community in question. It must be explicitly stated that “needs” always reflect prevailing value judgements as well as the existing ability to control a particular public health problem.
